Richard Ridler brings to LINK a wide knowledge and involvement in a diverse range of businesses both as a senior manager and as an owner operator. His extremely broad experience in the business community has equipped him to professionally and ethically represent the best interests of those business owners seeking information or considering the sale of their business and his background knowledge gained from the technical, production, sales, marketing and management roles in small and large enterprises enables him to relate to both large and small business owners.

His specialty is with “added value” businesses providing goods and services often on a business to business basis. After graduating from Massey University, he joined the then NZ Farmers’ Fertilizer Co. Ltd (later to become FERNZ) as a technical/commercial representative for five years and then into research & development. After two and a half years in product research and development he then moved into production management in agricultural, veterinary and industrial chemicals (15 staff $5m. sales). This gave him an in depth understanding of managing a production facility and of product and market development. After some 10 years in middle management, Richard founded a small health food company, which he soon on-sold to Healtheries. The experience of developing and running a small business has given him an empathy with small business owners in the marketplace.

Appointed to Vita NZ Ltd as a Commercial Manager (Product Development & Sales), he soon become General Manager Northern Region with a staff of 200 and $25m sales. During this time his dealings with multinational suppliers, large customers (both industrial and consumer), and a large personnel base, allowed him to obtain a fuller understanding of the benefits and problems of running a larger enterprise.

The call to once again have his own business soon saw him establishing a nice market manufacturing business that over the next 12 years grew into sales around $2.5m with a staff of 12-15 before he sold it. Proactive and energetic, he gives the service and outcome that business owners seek.
