Laurel joined LINK with a proven background in franchising, having successfully owned and run her own franchise for many years prior to becoming a business broker. Twenty years ago, Laurel, with her husband David, started one of the first New Zealand owned franchises, Arano Juice, which she continued to be involved with as a Franchisor up until March of 2006. Both Laurel and David are still active in the Franchise Association of New Zealand and have been involved since its inception.
Alongside her franchised company, Laurel has worked within a variety of businesses. In the mid 1990's she started an ultra-sound bone density assessment business and as a result established a wide base of clients throughout NZ. While this business was a success, Laurel sold it several years ago as her services were being sought by several large Franchise companies to do franchise recruitment. Working within recruitment quickly led to her becoming involved in franchise sales as well, and with her knowledge of the industry she excelled in this area. Laurel has now been specialising in franchise recruitment for over five years in a wide range of businesses from the food industry to professional services
Laurel has good relationships with many people in the franchising world, including franchisors, lawyers and bankers. Her experience in franchising extends beyond recruiting and sales into running seminars and writing articles about the industry. Laurel's understanding of the culture of franchising is very valuable for both the recruitment of new franchisees and the resale of existing franchise businesses. Just recently, Laurel sold 9 territories for one company within a one-month period. This proven track record of success is well matched with her personality; while business-minded, her approach is warm and genuine and her ability to build rapport with her clients ensures that she maintains good relationships with both clients and Franchisors.
